KUALA LUMPUR, 6 May, 2016 – Malaysia’s largest issuer of  Islamic Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), i-VCAP Management Sdn. Bhd.’s (“i-VCAP”) efforts to develop the ETF segment has borne fruit as it receives recognition for its product range and  capabilities.

At the ETF and Indexing Awards 2016 ceremony organised by Asia Asset Management and ETFI Asia in Hong Kong held on 28 April 2016 , i-VCAP won the Best Global Islamic ETF award which recognises the most outstanding Islamic ETF globally in terms of asset under management (AUM), achievement of performance objective and trading activities  over the last year.

The ETF and Indexing Awards recognise the outstanding product issuers and personalities from Asia’s ETF and Indexing industry on annual basis. This is the second time the awards have been held.

The list of winners for this year includes State Street Global Advisors and Deutsche Asset Management, which won awards in various categories including ETF Manager of the Year in Asia, Best ETF Manager for Investor Education, ETF Market Leader in Asia and Best Cross-Border ETF.

In early April, i-VCAP also received a special accolade at the Bursa Broker Awards 2015 in the Shariah-compliant Exchange Traded Funds category for its contributions in developing Islamic ETF products for Malaysian investors.

In its third installation, the Bursa Broker Awards introduced seven new awards including two special awards for Shariah-compliant exchange traded products and Shariah-compliant Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT).

“These awards are a testament to the commitment of our team and we are very honoured that our efforts in the development of ETF products have received recognition not only on the local front but regionally as well,” said iVCAP’s CEO, Mahdzir Othman.  “But more importantly, the award will motivate us to continue with our efforts in order to see greater participation by investors on investing in ETFs,” he added.

Through MyETF Series, i-VCAP’s four ETF products are among eight ETF products available in the Malaysian ETF segment. The products include MyETF Dow Jones Islamic Market Malaysia Titans 25 (MyETF-DJIM25), MyETF MSCI Malaysia Islamic Dividend (MyETF-MMID), MyETF MSCI SEA Islamic Dividend (MyETF-MSEAD) and MyETF-AGRI.

“The ETF’s prospect in the medium to long-term looks promising and we feel encouraged to launch more innovative products, not only for the Malaysian investors but also for the regional investors to take part,” Mahdzir said.

Apart from MyETF Series, i-VCAP, a wholly owned subsidiary of Valuecap Sdn. Bhd., also manages wholesale and private mandate funds. Since its establishment, its AUM has grown and currently valued at RM1.19 billion.
