- Prior to his retirement in November 2014, Mohd Asri was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Bank Muamalat Malaysia with direct oversight of client relationships and revenue generating activities of the Bank. His portfolio responsibilities include Consumer Banking, Corporate and Commercial Banking, Treasury and Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Private Equity. As COO, he served as a member and Deputy Chairman of the Bank’s management committee, executive risk management committee, credit committee, investment committee and Chairman of ALCO. Previously he was the Chief Risk Officer, reporting directly to the Board Risk Management Committee. He also sat on the Board of Muamalat Ventures Sdn Bhd and Muamalat Invest Sdn Bhd, the bank’s subsidiaries involved in Private Equity and Asset Management businesses respectively.
- Before joining Bank Muamalat, Mohd Asri was the CEO of Malaysian Rating Corporation, a domestic rating agency. His previous appointments include being the Head of Corporate Planning and Business Development at Amanah-MIDF Berhad, a Malaysian financial services group overseeing the Group’s formulation of strategic plans, business acquisition, joint ventures and strategic alliance; Country Treasurer and Vice President of the then Chase Manhattan Bank Malaysia; General Manager, Treasury and Southern Region of a domestic commercial bank; CEO of a domestic finance company and Treasurer of a merchant bank.
- Mohd Asri currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of i-VCAP Management Sdn. Bhd. (“i-VCAP”), ValueCAP’s wholly-owned asset management subsidiary.
- He is an Economics graduate from Macquarie University, Sydney.
