Sharifatu Laila Syed Ali – Chief Executive Officer
Sharifatu Laila Syed Ali, was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Valuecap in 2002 and played a key role in the setting up of Valuecap by the government, leading a team of 7 staff then which has since expanded to approximately 60 staff. Having been actively involved in the investment industry for more than 22 years, prior to joining Valuecap, she had served at various premier institutions i.e. the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Permodalan Nasional Berhad and Lembaga Tabung Haji. As the CEO of the Company, she is responsible for the long term strategic planning of the organisation and ensuring the development of the Company’s long term investment policies and strategies.
She began her investment career in Permodalan Nasional Berhad in 1985 as an Investment Executive at the Investment Operations department, before leaving to join the Employees Provident Fund 3 years later. During her tenure with Employees Provident Fund Board (EPF), she held several positions from Investment Officer to Senior Portfolio Manager (Head at the Equity Investment Division) overseeing equity portfolio funds of more than RM43 billion. She was also Head of the Treasury Division during her tenure at EPF. She has extensive experience in the field of portfolio investment both in the local and regional environment given EPF’s portfolio involvement also in the regional markets of Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong, also private equity investment. At Lembaga Tabung Haji, she was the Chief Investment Officer.
Sharifatu holds a Masters of Business Administration from University Malaya and Bachelor of Science degree from University Kebangsaan Malaysia. She has also attended the Wharton-NUS Investment Management Programme and the Strategic Leadership Programme at University of Oxford, and the Advanced Strategic Management Programme at IMD, Switzerland.
Shahriza Ibrahim – Chief, Product & Market Strategy
Shahriza Ibrahim, joined Valuecap in December 2007 as Chief, Quantitative and Product Strategy. He graduated with MBA in Finance from the University of Hull, UK and holds a Diploma in Actuarial Science from University Technology MARA. He has extensive experience over 19 years in the area of Asset allocation, Quantitative research and Performance analysis. He is a key team member of various projects undertaken by the Company including Valuecap’s Asset-Liability Modelling and the Portfolio Performance Management system.
Nazrina Othman – Senior Vice-President, Finance (Acting, Chief Financial Officer)
Nazrina Othman, graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Finance and secondary area in Management from University of Oregon, Oregon, USA and a holder of Diploma in Accounting from MARA Science College (now known as MARA Poly-Tech College). She started her career in the private sector prior to joining Valuecap in 2002. During her tenure with Valuecap, she held several positions from Accounts Executive to her current position as Senior Vice-President in Finance cum Acting, Chief Financial Officer overseeing accounting, settlement operations and IT support & services function. She developed her career in Valuecap with extensive experience in finance and accounting.
Shaharin Md. Hashim – Head, Investment Research
Shaharin Md Hashim, a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics and Mathematics. He has 15 years experience in analysis and policy-&-product research-&-development works in both the Malaysian capital and financial markets having previously served the central bank and two stock exchanges. He joined Valuecap in January 2005 and is a key team member of various projects undertaken by the Company including Valuecap’s Capital Restructuring exercise, Asset-Liability Management studies and the Portfolio Performance Management system.
Husnahafiza Hj Mohamed – Company Secretary / Head, Corporate Management Services
Husnahafiza Hj Mohamed, holds a Bachelor of Law degree from University of London (External). She was actively involved in the setting up of Valuecap in 2002 and was entrusted to head the Corporate Management department overseeing the operations pertaining to the Secretarial/legal, Human Capital Development and the Administration of the Company. She is a licensed secretary and has been the Company Secretary of Valuecap since 2003. She began her career as an Executive in a foreign securities firm in 1993 and later joined the banking industry for four years before joining Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the government investment arm in 1998 until the incorporation of Valuecap in November 2002.
Mazlinda Abd Latiff – Head, Corporate Assurance
Mazlinda Abdul Latiff, holds a Degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant and a member of MICPA and MIA. She began her career in Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), a premier oil & gas company, where she performed various finance functions and later joined MITCO, a subsidiary of Petronas as Manager, Financial and Management Accounting. She joined Valuecap in January 2003 as Head of Finance.
Sharizan Shafie – Head, Human Capital Development
Sharizan Shafie joined Valuecap as Head, Human Capital Development Department in August 2010. She has more than 18 years working experience in Human Capital Management and prior to joining Valuecap, Sharizan worked in synergy with various Human Capital Consulting firms specializing in executive search, organizational development, remuneration and reward structures and performance management systems. She previously served as Head of Human Capital for the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and KAF Discounts Berhad (now known as KAF Investment Bank Berhad).
Sharizan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Relations from the University of Keele, Staffordshire, UK and a Master of Business Administration with specialism in Human Resource Management from City University Business School, London, UK.
